Закарпаття

Zakarpattia (Transcarpathia)

Zakarpattia is a distinct ethnographic region on the far side of the Carpathian mountains.  There is a strong Romanian influence there both on the language and on the features folk design.  The pysanky from this region tend to be more simple, with similarities to that of the nearby Lemkos and Boikos.

Once again, the drop-pull pysanka seems out of place here.  The oblast of Zakarpattia does include an ethnically Lemko area of population (most Lemkos who remain in their ancestral lands are within the borders of Slovakia and Poland) , so that might be the provenance of this pysanka.
