Summer Camp

 

I have spent many a summer volunteering at summer camps in Ukraine, and several of them have involved teaching pysankarstvo.  (The others included health classes about hygiene, addiction, first aid and HIV/AIDS.  I’m the lady with cucumbers and condoms.)


I’ve taught twice in Vorohta (Ivano-Frankivsk oblast), once in Crimea, twice in Kolochava (Zakarpattya oblast) and once in Kosiv (Ivano-Frankivsk oblast).  I’ve taken lots of photos of the process and some of the eggs, but only the last four camps were in the digital era.  The pysanky the children created are shown below.
