Babynopillia

Бабинопілля

Akreshory, known from 1946-1993 as Babynopillia, is located in Kosiv raion next to Kosmach, and is known for its production of pysanky, both real and wooden. It is names for its river, the Akra. The village is known for its lack of modernity--it still resembles a village of 100 years ago, and is considered by some to be a living museum.

The pysanky below were photographed at the Museum of the Pysanka between 2009-2014 under varying lighting conditions, and were written by Hanna Kapuliak (b. 1931).

There are there distinct sets of pysanky; for some reason many were displayed with the catalog numbers in front. Their yellow resheto with red infill is quite similar to that of neighboring Kosmach, and pysanky of the two villages can be easily confused.
