Richka

Richka, located in Kosiv raion along the RIchka River (a tributary of the Prut) is another ancient Hutsul village; first mentions in the written literature date to 1660.  It is a longstanding center of Hutsul handcrafts, especially woodworking, embroidery and cheese horses, but also including pysankarstvo.

The pysanky below were photographed at the Museum of the Pysanka, and were written by K.M. Kishchuk (b. 1941) in 1988.  They have, unfortunately, faded in the bright lights of the display case.

Two of the pysanky have second photos to help appreciate the entire design.
