The village of Kobaky is located in Kosiv raion on the left bank of the Cheremosh River; first mentions in the written literature date to 1442.  At that time it was known Zdvyzhen (Здвиженнь) ; it acquired its current name in the 16th century.

Kobaky is renowned for having the first public school in Pokuttia.

The pysanky below were photographed at the Museum of the Pysanka, and were written by Yevdokia Khalamandra (1924-2007) between 2009-2019.  The photos are of varying quality.
