This page gives suggestions on how to fill in spaces and otherwise make designs busier and more intricate.  Once again, something to do if you are creating your own diasporan designs.

In traditional folk pysanky, there were three ways that spaces were filled in: with resheto/latticework (Carpathian areas), with lines/stripes, and with solid color. Lines were ornamented in many ways; making them into pussy willow branches (second example, top half) was not common until recent years.
