On the following pages I’ve included information about commercially available dyes packaged specifically for dyeing pysanky. The dyes profiled are those I have had a chance to use, and have some personal knowledge of.  The dyes are

As I noted before, the dyes are all custom blends compounded from standard dyes.  While the names may be similar, the colors can vary quite a bit. Reds can run the gamut of orangey, pinkish or deep, and blues can be cerulean to midnight.  Even blacks can be quite different, having red or blue undertones.

There are other dye suppliers out there and, should I get a chance to work with their dyes, I will report on them.  Until then, the 111+ colors these companies produce will keep me busy for quite a while.
