Kharkiv region

The pysanky on this page are from the Kharkiv region (Greater Ukraine: Slobozhanshchyna). They are more complex than those from the eastern regions of Prydniprovia, and the one on the left features the Sakvy (Saddlebags) division.

Pysanky from the Kharkiv region tend towards phytomorphic (plant) motifs, and use a lot of green compared to other areas (a major color rather than an occasional accent).  Even the ruzhi look more floral than star-like.
